1. Who we are
Match Ready ("Match Ready", "we", "us", "our") is a personalised football news and analysis app operated by Match Ready Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17085410; brand: Match Ready Sports).
- Registered office: 20 Ground Floor Flat, Algarve Road, Earlsfield, London, United Kingdom, SW18 3EG
- Contact for privacy matters: support@matchreadysports.com
Match Ready Ltd is the data controller for the personal data described here. This policy explains what we collect through the Match Ready app, why, and your rights under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).
2. The short version
- You use Match Ready with an account (your email and a password, plus a display name) so your follows and personalisation are saved to you and work every time you open the app.
- We collect the teams, players and topics you follow so we can personalise what you see.
- We collect basic usage, device and crash information to keep the app working and improve it.
- We do not sell your personal data, we do not use third-party analytics or advertising trackers, and we do not show third-party advertising.
3. What data we collect
a) Information you give us
- Your account details: the email address and password you sign up with, and the display name you choose.
- Your preferences: the teams, players, leagues and topics you choose to follow.
- Anything you send us: for example if you email support or report a problem.
b) Information we generate
- A personalisation profile: we combine your follows and how you use the app to decide what to show you. This is linked to your account.
c) Information collected automatically
- Authentication data: a secure session token that keeps you signed in, managed by our authentication provider.
- Usage data: we may process basic information about how the app is used (such as which features are used) within our own systems, to keep the app working and improve it. We do not currently use any third-party analytics tool.
- Crash and diagnostic data: error and performance information when something goes wrong, provided to us in aggregated or opt-in form through Apple and Google's developer services.
- Device and technical information: device model, operating system version, app version, language, and approximate region (derived from your IP address, not precise location).
- Push notification token: only if you turn on push notifications, so we can deliver them.
d) What we do not collect
- We do not ask for your date of birth or any identity documents.
- We do not collect payment information.
- We do not collect precise GPS location.
4. Cookies and similar technologies
The app uses on-device storage to work:
- Strictly necessary storage, required to run the app and remember your preferences and settings. This is always on because the app can't function without it.
We do not currently use third-party analytics or advertising SDKs in the app, we do not use advertising trackers, and we do not share device identifiers with advertising networks. If we add an analytics tool in future, we will update this policy first.
5. How we use your data, and our legal basis
| What we do | Why | Legal basis (UK GDPR) |
|---|---|---|
| Create and manage your account | To sign you in and keep your follows and settings with you | Performance of a contract |
| Run the app and remember your preferences | To provide the service you asked for | Performance of a contract / legitimate interests |
| Personalise your feed and content | To show you what's relevant | Legitimate interests |
| Fix bugs and improve the app | To keep the app reliable and make it better | Legitimate interests (or consent where required) |
| Send push notifications | To deliver updates you've enabled | Consent |
| Protect the app and prevent abuse | Security and fraud prevention | Legitimate interests |
| Meet our legal and regulatory duties | Compliance | Legal obligation |
"Legitimate interests" means we use your data in ways you'd reasonably expect to run and improve Match Ready, where doing so doesn't override your rights. You can object to this at any time (see Section 7).
6. Your choices
- Push notifications: you choose whether to turn these on, and you can turn them off any time in your device settings.
- Withdrawing consent: withdrawing consent doesn't affect anything we did before you withdrew it.
7. Your rights and how to use them
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you;
- Rectify inaccurate data;
- Erase your data ("right to be forgotten");
- Restrict or object to certain processing;
- Data portability: receive your data in a portable format;
- Withdraw consent at any time (for example, turn off notifications).
To exercise any of these, contact support@matchreadysports.com. You can also delete your account and its data at any time in the app, under Support → Your account → Delete account; this permanently removes your account and the data linked to it.
You have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO): ico.org.uk, helpline 0303 123 1113. We'd appreciate the chance to put things right first.
8. Who we share data with
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with service providers ("processors") who help us run Match Ready, under contracts that require them to protect it:
- Supabase: secure database, authentication and hosting for your account, preferences and app data (hosted in the UK/EU, London region). Your password is stored only as a secure hash by Supabase's authentication service; we never see or store your raw password.
- Resend: delivers our service emails, such as your sign-up confirmation code and password-reset messages.
- Apple App Store / Google Play: app distribution and, where enabled, push notification delivery (Apple APNs / Google FCM).
We may also disclose data if required by law, to protect our rights, or in connection with a business sale or reorganisation.
9. International transfers
We aim to keep your data in the UK/EU. Where a provider processes data outside the UK, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as UK adequacy regulations or the UK International Data Transfer Agreement / Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, so your data stays protected.
10. How long we keep it
- Account and preferences: for as long as you have an account; removed when you delete your account in the app or ask us to delete it.
- Crash and diagnostic data: kept in aggregated or limited-retention form only as long as needed to improve the app.
We delete or anonymise personal data when we no longer need it.
11. Children
Match Ready is a general-audience app and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. We design with the ICO's Age-Appropriate Design Code in mind. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we'll delete it.
12. Security
We use technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit, access controls, and database row-level security. Your password is never stored in plain text; it is held only as a secure hash by our authentication provider. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and respond quickly if anything goes wrong.
13. Links to other services
The app may link to third-party websites or services (for example, news sources). This policy doesn't cover them. Please read their own privacy policies.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We'll change the "Last updated" date above and, for significant changes, let you know in the app.
